P&C Meeting Summaries
4/12/2024
Continued discussions around improving bus services and a reminder to direct feedback to TfNSW. P&C can assist in co-ordinating community feedback. The call-out for more capacity must come from the community directly. Committed additional funds to school for Musical, Sport and Staff. Our second hand uniform shop continues to soar, recycling good quality uniforms back into the school community and generating funds for school initiatives. And we learnt that we now have a new PA system, Air Con options (difficult in an old school) are being tested, and the outdoor furniture project is being actively planned in 2025 by Dept Education infrastructure team (this is where are recent Trivia nights and raffle fundraising efforts are going).
30/10/2024
We noted that our new P&C website is now live. A fantastic initiative for a one stop shop for all things P&C. Fundings was allocated to CAPA, Wellbeing and Maths faculty. We also recognised the collaborative effort in both time and funding between an alumnus family, the school and P&C to enable CPR training for all y10s. This is a wonderful cause that we would like to maintain annually in the years ahead.

We gave our tired community a well earned rest and went online only for this session. Great information from Kathy about community consultation as well as clarifying G26 subject selection interview process. We formally welcomed our new secretary, Sumit, and Treasurer, Gabrielle, in their new roles. Fiona outlined how the second hand uniform shop co-ordination was switching to Kitty for 2025, and did a big call out for both senior polo donations please (stocks are low) and volunteers for our orientation day on Tuesday 3rd December. And finally, we need parents to participate in teacher selection panels for vacant positions so please reach out to the P&C and/or respond to the EOI circulated on eNews.
7/8/24
AGM night - The mandatory positions were filled as followed:- President: Simon Cahill, Vice Presidents: Richard Williams and Ben Mills Treasurer: Gabrielle Darabi Secretary: Sunit Chopra. A big welcome to our new Treasurer Gabrielle and Secretary Sumit. There are many working groups and active participants in the P&C, we'll provide a feature on those in future communications. And there is always room for new faces. Please reach out. Some long serving P&C members are leaving the school this year as part of the G24 graduation group. A huge thank you to Roman (Treasurer), Olena (Events) and David (President & Environment) who contributed to the parent and school community over many years. They have all had a material impact on our school through for example keeping the canteen afloat through a pandemic, creating the fun culture around the events we host, delivering the Green Wall we walk by everyday in the quad, and playing significant roles in supporting the new gym / muti purpose space build. We also say farwell to our extraordinary Trivia organsier and fund raiser Michelle, who not only organised face to face Trivia but will hopefully be the only Manly parent who had to run a virtual Trivia back in 2020 (which was awsome btw). We took a moment to reflect on the increased parent involvement in the P&C community over the past 12 months, the increased fundraising and grant activities, the re-energised events, the stabilising of the canteen position and the efficiency of the second hand uniform shop. Now we need to focus on Trivia night and the Co-ed Community Consultation.
19/6/24
Our first P&C meeting in our new gym with our new AV equipment (Thanks Ben!).We had an informal meet & greet prior where many of our active members were able to finally put faces to names and chat about the various community initiatives. And fanatstic refreshments from ChaChus were a necessity post busy work days. We were privelaged to have our NBSC college principal Dane Ropa in attendance to outline the benefits of our college system (Balgowlah Boys, MacKellar Girls, Cromer, Freshwater Senior and Manly campuses): *share excellence in practice *careers, first nations coordinators, admin managers *collaborating to provide students with best post school learning pathways *share what works in Wellbeing, etc. from each campus *college general staff entitlement which equates to 2 extra staff per campus We allocated funding to the student run Manly Breakfast Club (serving pancakes and music every second friday at the gym). Kathy noted the upcoming musical Spamalot and Meg called out the success of the online raffle. Term 3 will be busy with Trivia night on 17th August. Parent representation will also be required for the co-ed community consultation through August and September. There was an extensive discussion around the Department cuts to school budgets and by extension the importance of community contributions, fundraising and sourcing grants.
15/5/24
Zoom only for this session as a lot happening in the school community. Fantastic presentation from our Head Teacher Enrichment - Atalya Masi on all the wonderful musical and extra curricular offerings in the school. We then learned about the formation of a joint school / community Technology Working Group from our wonderful Head Teacher Technology - Branko Goyokic. $6k of funding was approved to cover installation of the new bike racks (the purchase cost is being covered by a grant), new stand up desks for the English faculty and some posters to support student wellbeing (which is #1 priority always for the P&C). We also had WG updates on fundraising (Meg and team having an outstanding year with lots of new and cool ideas), Transport (Richard and team in discussions with local provider) and Second hand uniform shop (Winter sale!!!!!).

Great start to the year as Kathy welcomed all our new teachers and thanked the P&C for all their activities in the past few weeks, providing; catering for staff development days, coffee and welcome gift for the new teachers, Y7 welcome night, Y10 social, representation on recruitment panels and funding for the cognitive distortion student and parent workshops. We had a great rundown of all the new sport training programs that are being offered at manly this year. As well as an update on school infrastructure: new roofs installed, outdoor basketball courts resurfaced, new phones system installed, and asbestos testing throughout buildings. And we got a chance to review the G23 HSC results.
